Finn just started smiling up a storm today, I read a book to him (the hungry caterpillar) and every time i finished a page he would smile at me.

Finns 1st Doctors Appt
Finn had his first doctors Appt with his new Pediatrician Dr. George. The doctor was great and said Finn was doing awesome, he is almost back to birth weight at 8 days, so that means he is well nourished and ahead of schedule. He had to get his heel pricked for some tests and he barely fussed. I would tell you all the other percentile junk about head size and such but i dont remember. Finn so far lets us get pretty good sleep, only waking mom up once, maybe twice in the night for feeding. Im also pretty sure he saves his pee until his diaper comes off, its funny at this point, and he is doing it in his room. Everything else is great, we are happy and well fed (thanks everyone!) and Crash hasnt missed a beat.

Finns first trip to the doctor
We just got back from our postpartum appt at Evergreen. Finn is coming along great and they said he is right on track to where he should be. We had alot of questions and the woman working with us was very helpful and reassuring. Finn also had his first trip to a grocery store, ride in a cart, ride in an elevator, pee on dad while he got changed... Heres a picture of us when we got home.

Home and Exhausted
Heres how it all went down...
I was strongly urged to come home early from work sunday night to get some rest so i did. As soon as i got home we passed out on the couch for a few hours. Kat woke up at about 2am monday morning to some strengthening contractions and got up out of bed, then she woke me about 3am to tell me today was the day. Kat counted contraction time while I started to pack the car and clean up around the house. At 6am we decided we had been at 1 min contractions four minutes apart long enough and were ready to go in so we called the hospital. They asked us to wait one more hour and then call in with our updated numbers. at 7am I started the car and was about to call when Kat told me that her contractions had died down considerably. We then crawled back into bed and tried to get some rest.
At about 10am Kats contractions started picking up again and they were getting pretty painful, she was feeling them mostly in her lower back. We waited until we got back up to 4 min increments again and i finally called the hospital again around noon, I may have lied a bit and told them we were having some 3 and a half minute increments so they would have us come in. We dropped off crash at boarding and arrived at Evergreen about 12:45. We were then takin in to be monitored prior to being admitted into the maternity ward. Although Kats contractions were very painful we were only at 1cm dilation, so we could not be admitted. At about 1:30pm we were discharged and told to walk for an hour and then see our obgyn at 2:30pm for a check up.
Kat and I will probably agree that this was the hardest hour of the entire pregnancy as she was nearly impossible to get up and when she would have contractions she would nearly collapse to the floor, but she struggled through the pain and even took stairs over the elevator to keep things moving. At about 2:30 we finally saw our obgyn and she told us that we had made it to 5cm already and could be admitted, this was VERY good news. We made our way back upstairs and they showed us to our room.
After some monitoring and checks on the baby they concluded that our baby was upside down and thats why the contractions were so intense in her back and ordered the epidural. The anesthesiologist arrived about 4pm and went to work, providing us with the second most painful part of the pregnancy. It took him 4 times to get the needle in properly, and the local anesthesia wasnt really doing anything. It was hard to see kat go through the pain of the insertion each time just to see him pull it back out again, but she pulled through it and by the next contraction she smiled through it.
For the next few hours we would listen to music and talk while nurses would check up on her, checking her dilation for progress. At sometime they manually broke her water. At about 9:30 they decided it was time to push so Kat just started pushing! They were rushing all the equipment in as she just kept pushing away, every time getting great movement. At about 9:45pm they asked her to stop pushing because our doctor wasnt there yet, so we waited another round of contractions until she showed up. They then removed the stress monitor and told her just push when she felt a contraction come on. She then reached down, grabbed her legs and pushed for what seemed like a minute, took one breathe, pushed again until she needed a breath, then after the third one our little boy joined us on the outside at 9:54pm! He had also even righted his position right before he came out, so that wasnt a complication.
Immediately after clearing his airwaves he started turning blue and wasnt breathing, nurses came pouring in to help and I did my best to assure Kat that they knew what they were doing. After the longest 5 minutes of our lives we were assured that he was going to be fine, and then the joy hit. The staff at Evergreen was amazing, every single nurse there was happy to help with anything and taught us all the basics. Kat mastered feeding, and I mastered the art of the diaper change and swaddle.
We left the hospital at 11am this morning. We are finally home after deciding to stay one more night at evergreen. My brother made a great point about how wonderful it was to have all the help around and we were in no hurry to go at it alone. Kat was amazing, she saw the finish line and gave it everything she had, and has been bearing through the marothon feeding even though its very painful for her. We apreciate everyones love and support, the vistors, the gifts, and Finns proud grandmother Ruth for being by our sides when we needed her. We are very excited to continue the journey and will countinue to post updates and pictures, because if you couldnt tell, im pretty proud of my boy.

Any day now!
Kat has been having contractions all night, not big enough to go to the hospital, but definatly getting closer. In other news we are expecting to get some major flooding tonight and tomorow, as most of you know we have a stream going through our front yard which turns into a mess when it floods
Update
Kat had a few contractions today but they died off an hour or so ago. Im going to try swinging her around by her arms for a little while. If that doesnt work we are going to test trampolines at target.

Post sale
So we did pretty good at the sale, got a bassinet, portable play yard, and a ton of clothes. We feel like we saved a ton of money, all the outfits were $1-$3 and had multiple pieces. Im sure Kats mother will enjoy it more than me so she can go next time. Heres some pictures at 35 weeks.

Moms Of Multiples Sale
We are about 20th in line at the moms of multiples sale at BCC. We arrived at about 730 and it opens at 10. The line doubles about every 20 minutes, and I'm a little scared of all these pregnant ladies. Pray for our safety.

Update
Yesterday Kat was having contractions again so we went back in to evergreen. They ran some tests and did a check up on the baby and kats belly to make sure she wasn't close to going into labor. Everything came back very positive and the contractions have tapered down, so we are feeling a bit better about the baby (and mom). This was a rough couple of days for us and we really appreciate everyones thoughts and prayers. Today Kat feels fine so now im going to start my complaining. My back is killing me!!! 8)

Hospital Visit
Kat is still hooked up to the machines, she was having regular contractions so they gave her a shot to relax the uterus and get them to stop. She hasn't had contractions since the shot and eveything seems to be going well.
Short Vacation
Yesterday on our way down to eugene we were rear ended by a nice lady in little more than a t-shirt and underwear after a long night of "photo shoots" (it was 2pm). She had no idea how it happened and had just drank an energy drink so she was "wide awake". She apparently thought she was driving around us and floored it, except she was right behind us. Her car was small and went under the back end of our For Escape. Anyhow, Kat is being monitored for the next few hours at evergreen hospital and we are making sure the baby is ok, and that she didn't sustain any damage to the placenta. All our hospital bills will be covered so we are just hopping Kat and the baby are ok. insurance is going to cover all the rear damage but the front end damage we may have to pay a deductible because the guy in front of us that we were pushed into drove off. We apologize for not being able to make it down for the shower but we are going to attempt it again on the 11th - 13th. I will update when we leave the hospital as we arent allowed to have our phones near the equipment Kat is hooked up to.

The room is painted
I just finished painting the baby room and i think it came out pretty good. Next Ruth is going to help Kat re-upholster our slider chair. In general everything is coming along great. Finn is kicking up a storm lately and we can now see the kicks as well as feel them. Crash seems to know something is up and checks the room now and again to see whats new. We are excited to see Jenn, Andrew, and Amanda for dinner tonight and Mark next week. Kat (and hopefully myself) will be headed down to Eugene at the end of the month to visit.
Sorry the pics are so dark, our camera stinks. I will try to brighten them up later.
